Dr. Madurangi Ariyasinghe graduated from the University of Kelaniya with a Graduation Gold Medal for Academic Excellence in 2010. She obtained her MD-Emergency Medicine from the University of Colombo in 2017 as one of the first female postgraduate trainees of Emergency Medicine in Sri Lanka. She won the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) Foundation International Scholarship Award in 2018, the first Sri Lankan female emergency medicine trainee to win an international award. She got her overseas training in Ipswich General Hospital, QLD, Australia, where she obtained her 2-year POCUS accredited training and international accreditation through POCUS Academy, USA. She is one of the first Emergency Physicians with international accreditation on emergency sonography in Sri Lanka. She is the co-founder of the EM POCUS course and the Founder of the EM POCUS Academy, the only Sri Lankan body providing and designing accredited training in emergency sonography. She is a GIC Instructor for ERC, ELC, and APLS courses and was an instructor for the Australian ALS course. She has received specialised training in Aeromedical Retrieval at the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Queensland, Australia. Dr. Madurangi is a Founder member of the Sri Lanka College of Emergency Physicians (SLCEP), has held the post of Assistant Treasurer and is currently chair of the Ultrasound chapter of SLCEP. She has many international publications and is co-author of Disaster Preparedness Prospectus for the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. She is involved in developing strategic plans with the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka and is currently a National Shared Care Cluster Development Committee member. She is a Member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and an Affiliated Member of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). Her passion towards advancing clinically oriented POCUS to standardise the emergency care system, research in POCUS and Retrieval Medicine.
