The Sri Lanka College of Emergency Physicians (SLCEP) is the professional organization representing Emergency Physicians in Sri Lanka. Emergency care delivery is provided throughout the nation both in the public & private sector hospitals.

Emergency Medicine is the specialty that encompasses Emergency care to patients from out of hospital to in hospital settings. Our organization ensures optimum emergency care delivery will be provided to all that require it.

SLCEP will contribute to improving Emergency Care by maintaining the highest standards of Emergency care. 

Emergency Physicians function as the lead clinicians managing Emergency departments. Patients presenting to these departments are cared for with focus & efficiency. Immediate life threatening conditions are resuscitated, non life threats are managed accordingly and disposed appropriately to in ward specialties, or safely discharged home with follow up plan & advise. Patients that would require treatment which will resolve the condition within a short time span or can be safely discharged for home recovery are cared for by the emergency department staff in a short stay area within the emergency department.

Training Courses to improve the knowledge base & skill levels in doctors,nurses,emergency medical technicians & other allied emergency health care providers will be conducted by SLCEP  throughout the country.

Our professional body will liaise with the ministry of health, The Post Graduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM),Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) & all other professional colleges in Sri Lanka to complement Emergency Care delivery in Sri Lanka.

Safeguarding the interests of Emergency Physicians & Post Graduate trainees in Emergency Medicine will be priority for SLCEP.

Engaging with international organisations such as IFEM,ACEM,RCEM,SEMI,ACEP, Developing EM will be provided by SLCEP.
