Robyn Brady is a Staff Specialist in Paediatric and Emergency Medicine, the first Queensland dual-qualified for both specialties, and has influenced a whole generation of paediatric and emergency trainees to become more observant, metacognitive, and family-oriented in their Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) interactions. She has been part of the first wave in many important developments in her 40-years in medicine; first wave of PEM physicians in Australia, the first wave of APLS instructors, the wave of PEM POCUS teachers. She introduced scenario-based training and helped bring APLS to New Zealand, Vietnam and Russia. Currently based at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (now known as Queensland Children’s Hospital) in Brisbane and Lismore Base Hospital, NSW, Robyn is a Senior Lecturer in University of Queensland Medical School, co-chairs the PEM Point-of-Care Ultrasound ANZ group, POCUS Critical Care tutor, University of Sydney Medical School. She won the ‘Educator of the Year” ASUM 2021 and is passionate about ultrasound as the ‘third eye’ for physicians of the 21st century. This passion has taken her to Cuba, Torres Straits and Timor Leste as a volunteer, teacher, and ultrasound wielding physician.
